the project
We support the recognition of local governance forms and the strengthening of community governance of all persons from different age groups like boys and girls, adolescents, adults as well as the elderly. We are systematizing the learning and knowledge about community governance indicators that allows us to design strategies to strengthen community governance from an intergenerational perspective.
Between 2016 and 2018 we addressed the community governance with ten communities and five civil organisations, allied with the project“Community and Intercultural Governance for the exercise of social participation, accountability and human rights in the state of Oaxaca”. It is implemented in the framework of the Social Cohesion Laboratory II Mexico-European Union.
The project arises from the urgent need to increase and improve the capacities of civil society and CSO’s to dialogue and effectively excercise their civil and political rights to participate in the design, implementation, monitoring and social audit of public policies and institutional practices, in order to improve social cohesion and good governance from an intercultural, gender and sustainability perspective, through culturally and linguistically relevant practices as well as tools.
To contribute to increasing the degree of social cohesion in the country and in particular in the State of Oaxaca. Strengthening the action and professionalization of CSOs at the community level, through the development of their capacities to promote and improve their participation in the design, execution, monitoring, social audit of public policies and institutional practices at the state and/or local level.
specific objective
Develop and consolidate technical and institutional capacities of grassroots communities and CSOs in 10 marginalized localities of the State of Oaxaca. Promoting the right to active participation in transparency and accountability in the design, implementation, monitoring and social audit of public policies and dialogue with the government, in order to promote the full exercise of human rights and good governance with an intercultural, gender and sustainability approach.

The project was designed and implemented by five civil organisations: Solidaridad Internacional Kanda (SiKanda), Centro Profesional Indígena de Asesoría Defensa y Traducción (Cepiadet), Diversidades y No Discriminación (Diversidades), Iniciativas para el Desarrollo de una Economía Alternativa y Solidaria, A. C. (IDEAS Comunitarias) y Propuesta Integral para la Sustentabilidad (Propuesta)
IN AUGUST AND EARLY SEPTEMBER 2017, WE BEGAN A DIPLOMA IN COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE IN THE CENTRAL VALLEYS AND THE MIXTECA, WITH A BROAD PARTICIPATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE, WOMEN, MEN, AS well as STUDENTS, PROFESSIONALS, SOCIAL PROMOTERS and MUNICIPAL AUTHORITIES, FROM 10 LOCALITIES.
